Description

Kintsugi Repair

Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the broken areas with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, Kintsugi deems breakage and repair as part of the history of an object and therefore adding value, rather than something to disguise.

This painting depicts a large bowl from Pottery Barn, given to us by my sister-in-law, that had been broken and which i repaired in the Kintsugi style and spirit using Gorilla glue & iridescent gold acrylic paint.

Texas Peaches

Access to fresh local peaches is one of the perks of living in central Texas and south Austin. Texas peaches are the best.
