Flashback to 1998
Captain Quackenbush’s Coffee House
Capatain Quackenbush’s (aka Quack’s) Coffee House in Austin Texas has been an institution since it’s early incarnation on the Drag. In 1998, I was sitting in the Hyde Park bakery location on 43rd street and noticed the reverse image of the logo elongated and seemingly floating in midair in the squeaky clean window. I made a quick sketch then, which years later manifested as this acrylic painting done at the end of 2020.
