Austin City Limits Festival Frame of Reference
A frame inside a painting. Austin City Limits Festival occupies Austin’s south-side Zilker Park for two weekends every Autumn. Austin Texas is one of the fastest growing and most attractive cities in the USA; a side effect of this popular growth is scene of construction cranes above and among the ever changing Austin skyline. This painting puts Austin and its ever-growing skyline into a frame of reference.
My friend Donny travels the world working at festivals. He’s also got a pretty good eye with a camera and will frequently send to me photos he thinks might be cool paintings by me. This scene is as Zilker Park appears in the calm before the festival, the day before the gates open after the park is set and ready for music and festival goers. Donny took the original photo that inspired this 20×20 acrylic painting.
