This is a view I see almost every weekend when my wife and I run the 5 mile course around Ladybird Lake in Austin. This spot is on the south side of the river, where people gather on summer evenings to watch the famous bat colonies take flight. This scene is around 10a.m. with the morning sun reflecting on the buildings downtown.
One very nice comment i received regarding this painting is from my friend Rick Klein, who wrote to me: yr art always knocks me out! original, non-pretentious, soulful like Texas music. – Rick Klein Rick was one of the founders of the New Buffalo Ranch Commune near Taos, which operated from 1967 to 1979 , and inspired the commune scenes in Easy Rider (though Dennis Hopper didn’t film there). He’s a pretty cool guy, to say the least.
